Florence, SC - COLUMBIA, SC (WMBF) - A 45-year-old Florence woman faces a $1 million fine after pleading guilty Thursday to wire fraud in a Florence federal courtroom.
Evidence presented at the guilty plea hearing revealed Florena Y. Zantt filed credit disputes with a number of credit agencies, making it appear someone else had obtained loans in her name.
Zantt's fraudulent submission allowed her credit history to improve and obtain loans she otherwise wouldn't have been able to secure.
Zantt was granted access to loans that resulted in $48,000 in losses after having her credit card history altered.
The maximum penalty Zantt faces is a $1 million fine and up to 20 years in jail. Zantt's sentence will be imposed after a judge has reviewed a presentence report.
