Police: Victims beat with tire iron outside MB nightclub

Myrtle Beach, SC -

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - One person was taken into custody early Wednesday morning in connection to an altercation outside of a Myrtle Beach nightclub.

Officers were dispatched to Club There around 4:25 a.m. Wednesday after learning a fight occurred outside of the club that led to two people being severely injured.

Upon arrival, police learned a group of people were leaving the club when one person slapped the window of a Trailblazer as they were walking by. Two suspects exited the vehicle and began arguing with the group.

The verbal altercation escalated when the fight became physical and resulted in one suspect beating the victims with a tire iron. The victims told police as they attempted to run away, the two suspects chased the victims and continued to hit them.

The two victims were transported by EMS to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center, where both received medical attention.

One of the suspects, identified as Erik Panuelo, 18, of Myrtle Beach, was taken into custody and transported to the Myrtle Beach Jail.

Officers were called to the area of Carver Street, Washington Street and King Street in the City of Myrtle Beach after 3:00 a.m. Friday, according to Sergeant Steven Clothier. Five or six shots fired is what was reported in the original call, Clothier said, several casings were on the ground near the Cover Apartments.
