CCU warns of unlicensed advertising

Conway, SC - CONWAY, SC (WMBF) - Coastal Carolina University is warning business of vendors in the area who may be falsely claiming to represent the university in order to solicit advertising of unlicensed products.

Local businesses informed university officials that these individuals were selling advertising on athletic schedule posters, according to university spokeswoman Martha Hunn.

The university urges area businesses and individuals not to give cash or checks to vendors if there is any doubt about the validity of their solicitations. Since Coastal does seek sponsorships from the business community, questions may arise as to the legitimacy of various solicitations.

To determine if a sponsorship product is university approved, contact Matt Hogue, associate vice president for marketing at 843-349-2809.
