NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – Basketball players from across the country are headed to the Grand Strand to vie for the title of the U.S. Basketball Association's National Champion.
The USBA Championship Tournament is bringing approximately 100 all-star teams to North Myrtle Beach, as players battle for the crown.
"That's what you play basketball for, to win," said Daniel Henry, a guard for the Southern Maryland Eclipse, one of the teams in the tournament. "It would mean a lot for everybody to win a national championship."
The games are held at sites all over North Myrtle Beach with players ranging from 14 to 17 years old. Tournament organizers say you can expect to see a lot of the players on college basketball teams some day.
"Overall, they're kids that really just want to play," said USBA National Director and NMBHS Head Coach John Trussell. "There are great coaches who raise funds to bring them to a great place to play in North Myrtle Beach."
The tournament runs through Saturday. A USBA Tournament featuring 9- to 13-year-old players is coming up next week in North Myrtle Beach.
