Hwy 701 reopened after hazmat situation

Horry County, SC -

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - Traffic is back to normal after a gasoline leak prompted a hazmat situation along Highway 701 on Wednesday afternoon, according to Lance Cpl. Sonny Collins, spokesman for the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

According to officials, an unsecured log truck caused a number of gas pumps to leak fuel at Gerald's Convenience Store, after the truck rolled into the pumps.

The truck driver told investigators with the South Carolina Highway Patrol the truck was not secured in the parking lot.
