Florence, SC - FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) - A major road improvement project in Florence County is under the supervision of a new contractor, South Carolina Department of Transportation officials announced Wednesday.
C.R. Jackson, Inc., has been contracted by SCDOT to complete the Pine Needles Project after originally awarding the project to Weaver Construction. The company, according to officials, was unable to complete the project contract.
The Pine Needles Project is a first priority in a series of six major road improvements in Florence County that is being funded by a combination of a local option sales tax and State Transportation Infrastructure Bank funds.
Construction on the roadway-portion of the project resumed in April. It is anticipated to be complete by Fall 2011.
