MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - The brand famous for selling cocktail mixers, good times and food says they have interest in developing a property along the Grand Strand.
WMBF News learned in an email from a spokesperson for the Margaritaville Company that the group has some interest in developing a resort in the Grand Strand but no plans have been finalized.
"We think Myrtle Beach would be a great place for a Buffett hotel," Jeffery Thompson said, the President of the Coastal Carolinas Chapter of Parrot Heads.
The Margaritaville restaurant has been a staple of Broadway the Beach and could prove as a successful draw for a Myrtle Beach hotel.
"The Grand Strand doesn't need any more hotel rooms, but with the Jimmy Buffett brand being put on a hotel, it could mean a lot of new visitors to the area," Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce President Brad Dean said.
No specific location has been announced of where this hotel would be built and no plans on a time-frame have been released either.
The Margaritaville Company recently opened a hotel in Pensacola Beach, Florida. That hotel has over a hundred rooms and could serve as a preview of what could be developed in the Grand Strand.
