HINESVILLE, GA (AP) - Two are charged and a Hinesville toddler is in serious condition after being struck by a car while sitting in a stroller awaiting a Fourth of July fireworks display.
Hinesville Police traffic investigator Lt. Max McLendon says 19-year-old Dyshawn Davis faces charges of DUI, reckless driving, and serious injury by vehicle. A passenger, 21-year old Quinton Cotton, is charged with driving on a suspended license after authorities allege he tried to drive the vehicle away from the scene.
Police say it happened Sunday at 9:47 p.m. Lester Mena told police he was pushing the unidentified child's stroller when it was struck by a 1985 Oldsmobile Delta 88, knocking the child onto the ground.
Police say the child remained in serious condition at a Savannah hospital Tuesday.
