Dillon, SC - DILLON, SC (WMBF) - Current Dillon Mayor Pro-Tem Rev. Randolph Stephen Gurley is the suspect in a criminal domestic violence case involving his wife, according to a police report.
Officers with the Dillon Police Department were dispatched to Gurley's residence on June 29 just after 3 p.m. after Gurley's wife told officers her husband threatened to physically hurt her.
According to a police report, Maggie Gurley told police her husband put a hawk-bladed knife to her throat, took off his boot and threatened to hit her in the mouth. Gurley, according to his wife, also threatened to burn down the house with her inside.
Dillon Asst. Police Chief Bobby McLean said Maggie Gurley has retracted her statements to police since the report was filed, citing she "made a mistake." Police said Maggie Gurley did not wish to press charges against her husband in wake of the incident.
As a result, Gurley was not arrested by police.
The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division has been asked to investigate the dispute and say the investigation is ongoing at this time.
