Suspect attacked by pit bull during attempted burglary

Myrtle Beach, SC - MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - An unwelcomed visitor was attacked by a pit bull and Myrtle Beach woman after breaking into her apartment on Thursday.

Myrtle Beach Police were dispatched to a residence on Maple Street at 10:15 a.m. Thursday in reference to a residential burglary involving an armed suspect. Upon arrival, the victim told police a black male had entered her apartment while she was attempting to pack for a move.

The victim said the male suspect pointed a black handgun at her and said, "You tell him I was here." The victim then grabbed a knife beside a TV set, as her pit bull jumped and it the suspect on his forearm. While the dog was biting the suspect, the victim struck him two to three times in the head with the gun.

Once the dog let go of the suspect, he fled the scene through an alley located alongside the apartment.

The suspect has been described by police as a black male standing 5'7" and weighing approximately 175 pounds. At the time of the incident, he was reported as wearing black pants, a red shirt and a black windbreaker jacket.

Anyone with information on the location of the suspect is asked to call the Myrtle Beach Police Department.
