Huntersville, NC - HUNTERSVILLE, NC (WBTV) - Emergency crews have rescued one person out of Mountain Island Lake and are searching for a second person who has possibly drown.
Paramedics were called out to the 5200 block of Sample Road in the Latta Plantation Park for possible drowning.
A father was on a raft with his teen daughter and he was trying to teach her to swim, according to officials. It was reported that the father was getting off the raft and he got a cramp and went under the water.
Authorities said the daughter also went under as well, but she was rescued by emergency crews. Several people were in the area and tried to find the father but were unsuccessful.
The teen daughter has been taken to Charlotte's Presbyterian Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Emergency crews say the father is still missing and it's being treated as a possible drowning. Initial reports indicate he was under water for at least 10 to 15 minutes.
Just before 6:30 p.m., search crews told WBTV their mission had changed from a rescue mission to a recovery mission.
Dive teams have been called out to the lake.
