DARLINGTON, SC (WMBF) - Deputies in Darlington have arrested one man following a manhunt near Hartsville early Friday morning.

Capt. Andy Locklair, spokesman for the Darlington County Sheriff's Office, said deputies were dispatched to a home on New Market Road in Hartsville after reports of a stabbing. Upon arrival, deputies learned a man had been stabbed several times in the throat by a male suspect.

Investigators said the suspect, identified as Robert Wayne King, 38, of Hartsville, fled on foot through a wooded area prior to deputies arriving on scene. A Darlington County K-9 unit was called to the scene, prompting a manhunt for King.

After searching for several hours, King was arrested a short distance from the crime scene on New Market Road.

King is currently in custody at the Darlington County Detention Center awaiting bond on two charges of attempted murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.

Locklair said the condition of the victim is unknown at this time.
