Horry County, SC - HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - Officers have suspended their search Tuesday night in Horry County for a man who fled from police earlier in the day while being served with an arrest warrant.
Sgt. Robert Kegler, spokesman for the Horry County Police Department, said officers were serving Franky Causey an arrest warrant Tuesday morning when he fled from police. A search was initiated in an area along Hughes Gasque Road, but the efforts left police empty handed.
Hours after the conclusion of the search, Causey was spotted by an officer at the Cool Springs Farm Center along Highway 319. The owner of the store told WMBF News a man asked to use the phone, but was refused service because he was shirtless.
The owner said at the time of the encounter, he didn't know Causey was the subject of a search by police.
Officers revamped their search for Causey with a K-9 team Tuesday evening after he was last seen entering a corn field near Highway 319.
