Lumberton, NC - LUMBERTON, NC (WMBF) - A Duke-affiliated physician has joined the rankings of the Southeastern Regional Medical Center as a member of its medical staff, according to officials on Tuesday.
Dr. Melvin R. Echols is the newest member of the Duke Cardiology of Lumberton practice, located at 2936 N. Elm Street.
A native of Ivanhoe, NC, Echols completed his bachelor's degree in biology from Fayetteville State University in 1998. He earned a medical degree in 2002 from Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta and completed an internal medicine residency in 2005 at Duke University Medical Center.
He completed cardiology fellowships at the University of Texas Southeastern in Dallas, TX, in 2006 and at Duke University Medical Center in Durham in 2010.
He is board-certified in both internal medicine and cardiovascular disease by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
