FLORENCE, SC – Two Francis Marion University players are listed among the national leaders in the final 2010 NCAA Division II softball statistical report, while the Patriot squad is ranked highly in several team categories.
In the individual reports, senior left-handed pitcher Michaela Wolf (Littleton, Colo.) ranked 30th in pitching wins (22), 56th in strikeouts (172), 83rd in earned run average (2.13), 84th in shutouts (4), 88th in fewest walks allowed per seven innings (1.67), and 91st in strikeouts per seven innings (6.1). At the plate, Wolf ranked 18th in on-base percentage (.521) and 24th in walks per game (0.65).
Junior right fielder Chelle Phillips (Waukee, Iowa) ranked 89th in runs scored per game (0.90).
In the team rankings, the Patriot women ranked 45th in Division II in winning percentage (.692), 57th in fielding percentage (.962), 67th in earned run average (2.63), 77th in scoring (5.08 runs per game), and 83rd in batting average (.301).
Francis Marion ended the season with a 36-16 record and earned the program's second NCAA Division II National Tournament invitation in three seasons.
The Patriots advanced to the championship game of both the Peach Belt Conference Tournament and the NCAA Dahlonega Southeast Regional.
