Myrtle Beach, SC - MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Firefighters in Myrtle Beach will be putting their cooking skills to the test Saturday in the city's next installment of the Firehouse Cook-Off.
Beginning at 9 a.m. at Myrtle's Market, three-person teams from three separate Myrtle Beach Fire Department shifts will compete in the timed event. The competition, according to event organizers, will be similar in nature to "Iron Chef."
Each team will have two hours to prepare a meal using a secret ingredient provided in the morning. Participants must also use at least three items from Myrtle's Market vendors and can bring their own dried goods.
At 11 a.m., a panel of judges, including WMBF Sports Anchor Justin Felder, will determine the winning team. The team taking the competition will represent the Myrtle Beach Fire Department in a county-wide cooking showdown.
The public, officials say, are invited to watch the competition, meet the judges and taste the food.
