Horry County, SC - HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - Officials celebrated the opening of a $4 million investment in Horry County Friday that has led to the relocation of 40 employees and addition of 10 others to the area.
The Coca-Cola Bottling Co. Consolidated has located its new facility to a 6.5-acre site near SC-22 and SC-905. The company's previous location was located off US-501 in Conway, but officials said traffic was too difficult for trucks to navigate.
"This new facility will allow us to provide even more exceptional service to our coastal customers," said Alison Patient, director of corporate affairs for Coca-Cola Bottling Co. Consolidated. "In addition, we will be able to more easily reach several of our markets in the Southeast and meet the increasing demand of our customers.
Patient said the Horry County facility handles 1 million cases of Coke a year, servicing an area spanning from the North Carolina border to Georgetown County.
Coca-Cola Bottling Co. Consolidated is the second largest Coca-Cola bottler in the U.S. With corporate offices in Charlotte, NC, the company does business in 11 states, primarily in the Southeast.
