Victim: Suspect used plastic knife in attempted armed robbery

Murrells Inlet, SC - MURRELLS INLET, SC (WMBF) – A Murrells Inlet man was arrested after he demanded money at an ATM using a plastic knife, according to the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office.

James Campbell, 24, was arrested by police at his residence Thursday evening for an attempted armed robbery at the Wachovia Bank's ATM located at 4380 Hwy 17 Bypass.

According to officials, Campbell approached the patron and presented what the patron described as a white plastic knife.  They say Campbell then demanded money and when the patron refused; the suspect fled the area on foot into the woods behind the bank.

Police say Campbell is currently being held at the Georgetown County Detention Center where he will be formally charged in the morning.
