Myrtle Beach, SC - MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Surf's up for Ocean Lakes Family Campground, as the local RV park prepares to host a Billabong surf camp throughout the summer.
The summer edition of the camp marks the fourth year Ocean Lakes has partnered with Billabong for the three-day event. During the camp, participants will learn how to surf and receive instruction on safety, surf etiquette, coastal and marine ecology and board shaping.
"During the past four years, the Billabong partnership has helped the campground reach the tough 'tween' demographic that is extremely brand-aware," Monique Newton, spokeswoman for Ocean Lakes, said.
The camp is open to all Ocean Lakes Family Campground guests from 10-16 years old through August 20. Cost for the camp, which will run in two weekly sessions, will be $75.
"There are only a dozen Billabong Surf Camps on the East Coast, so Ocean Lakes is honored to be one of their locations," Ocean Lakes Director of Marketing Barb Krumm said.
Ocean Lakes established its surf camp in 2004 as part of its summer recreation activity schedule, which covers events from June to August.
