General McChrystal, head of the US military efforts in Afghanistan, whose comments were published in a recent magazine article, left President Obama few options but to relieve him of his duties in charge of those military efforts.
Obama made a very wise decision in replacing McChrystal with a very popular and effective General Petraeus.
Consider This: Many people probably agree with McChrystal's comments and his comments may reflect the thinking of the vast majority of the military leadership. However, airing your dirty laundry in the media, especially when the topic relates to national security and a major military offensive, is not a good idea.
If General McChrystal had issues with President Obama and his senior team he should have been encouraged to share those concerns with the leadership and engage in a healthy debate.
Even if you agree that his comments were spot on, they should have been handled confidentially and with a lot more tact.
