Crews call off search for bridge jumper in NMB

North Myrtle Beach, SC - NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Rescue crews came up empty handed after initiating a search for a man who reportedly jumped off a bridge on the Robert Edge Parkway late Wednesday night.

A spokesperson for North Myrtle Beach Fire Rescue said a witness called 911 after seeing a man jump off the bridge and into the Intracoastal Waterway in North Myrtle Beach shortly before midnight.

Horry County Fire Rescue in water rescue efforts, but later called off the fruitless search.

Officials said it was low tide when the man allegedly jumped into the water, and if someone did jump, they would have been seriously injured or killed.
