Conway Police step up holiday DUI enforcement

Conway, SC - CONWAY, SC (WMBF) - The Fourth of July is the perfect time to kick back and relax, but police in Conway guarantee they'll be cracking down on impaired drivers after their day of fun has ended.

During the holiday period, Conway Police will aggressively be patrolling for DUI enforcement and reminding drivers that driving with an alcohol buzz is still considered drunk driving.

Conway Police spokeswoman Catina Hipp said alcohol is a major factor in accidents over the holiday weekend. In 2008, 32 percent of all drivers involved in traffic-related crashes during the four-day weekend had a BAC of .08 or higher.

Police suggest lining up a sober ride home before consuming any alcohol and getting behind the wheel of a car.
