MB Herald: Want to pay your parking meter via text?

Myrtle Beach, SC - MYRTLE BEACH, SC - Don't LOL, it's true. The service is Parkmobile (Parkmobile.com), and for a small fee, users have the ability to start and stop a metered parking session automatically.

It's a new feature the City of Myrtle Beach implemented May 8, and it's saving visitors the stress of busy beach parking.

"It works remarkably well," said Mark Kruea, the city's public information officer. "And you're only charged for the amount of time you're there."

The service is available at every parking meter in Myrtle Beach, according to Lanier Parking management company. Myrtle Beach is also the only city in South Carolina offering the Parkmobile option.
