One suspect in custody, detectives seeking one more for larceny

Shallotte, NC - SHALLOTTE, NC (WMBF) - The Brunswick County Sheriff's Office is still searching for one suspect in connection to a 2 month old case where $1,300 was reported stolen from a community center.

Friday, the money stolen from the Rutledge Community Center was recovered and Jennifer Kathleen Lewis was taken into custody.  She was charged with felony larceny, felony possession of stolen goods, conspiracy to obtain property by false pretenses, and misdemeanor larceny.

Now police need help in finding 40-year-old Merton Robert Gainey III.  He is wanted for felony larceny, obtaining property by false pretenses, and misdemeanor larceny.  He and Lewis are from Tar Landing Road in Shallotte.

Gainey is said to be driving a black 1997 Ford Taurus possibly in the Sunset Harbor area.
