Darlington, SC - DARLINGTON, SC (WMBF) – Two women were arrested after they went shopping in Family Dollar and left a small baby alone inside their parked car.

Officers with the Darlington County Police Department were dispatched to the store parking lot just after 6 p.m.  A store employee called police to report a baby who appeared to be eight to nine months old was left inside a vehicle in the heat.

When police arrived on the scene Suzanne Morrow, the child's mother, and Marjorie Henderson, the child's grandmother, were standing outside of the vehicle with the baby.

The grandmother of the child stated they forgot the baby was in the car.  Both females were arrested for unlawful child neglect and taken to Darlington County Detention Center.

The father of the child was contacted and according to police, he appeared extremely upset that the baby had been left in the vehicle when he arrived.

It was determined  the baby had been left in the vehicle for approximately 20 to 30 minutes, according to eyewitnesses, while the women shopped in the Family Dollar.

The baby was released to the biological father and police said the baby appeared otherwise taken care of.
