Myrtle Beach, SC - MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - The Community Appearance Board reviewed plans Thursday that would bring a Ferris wheel to the Grand Strand.
City of Myrtle Beach officials discussed the new attraction option and developers said the plans include an exact replica of a Ferris wheel in Niagara Falls.
"Myrtle Beach needs our own scaled version of the Eiffel Tower, something iconic for our community," project designer James Hubbard said. "This can definitely provide that."
If the plans are approved by the Community Appearance Board they will then move through the approval process by the Planning Commission and the Myrtle Beach City Council.
If approved, developers hope to have the Ferris wheel up and running by next summer.
