Patriot cagers add Lady Catamounts forward

Florence, SC -

From Francis Marion University:

FLORENCE, SC – Francis Marion University first-year women's basketball head coach Kate Glusko has announced that 5-11 forward T.T. Belcher of Fayetteville, NC, will transfer from Western Carolina University and attend FMU this fall and play for the Patriots in 2010-2011.

Belcher played two seasons at WCU.  This past year, she appeared in 29 games, making two starts, and averaged 2.3 points and 3.1 rebounds per game with 13 blocked shots. As a freshman, she played in 26 games and averaged 1.5 ppg and 2.2 rpg for a 21-12 Lady Catamounts squad that advanced to the NCAA Tournament.

Belcher is a product of Concord High School, where as a senior, she helped her team to the 3A state championship while earning title game most valuable player honors.  She was also named North Carolina's 3A Player of the Year.  A two-time All-Conference selection, she averaged 13.5 ppg as a junior.

Francis Marion returns eight letterwinners from last season's 27-5 squad that ended the year ranked 20th nationally and made the program's third consecutive NCAA Division II National Tournament appearance.

Belcher becomes the third newcomer to join Glusko's program. Sophomore 5-8 swing player Jasmine Williams-Hayes of Yorktown, VA, previously announced her intention to transfer from Hampton University, while Raleigh, NC, freshman 5-7 guard Brittany Christian signed a national letter of intent.
