CONWAY, SC (WMBF) – A five-year-old is declared a "Super-Hero" by Horry County Fire Rescue.
On June 15, Andrew Jackson was awarded with the department's "Super-Hero Award" because he demonstrated the courage to assist those around him when they were in an emergency situation, according to the department.
Horry County Fire Rescue says Jackson did not hesitate to jump into action on June 9 when he saw flames at his neighbor's house.

"I ran to my dad and told him to call 911," Andrew said.  "I knew we had to get the firemen there."

Andrew's quick thinking helped to save his neighbor's home, according to Horry County.

The award was presented by Horry County Fire Rescue Fire Chief Garry Alderman, public education specialist, Kathy Rowell, Lieutenant Wayne Jones and Firefighter/EMT Gene Martin.
Friends, family and neighbors were also in attendance.
