MB could have new oceanfront development

Myrtle Beach, SC - MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Myrtle Beach is a priority to one company who says it hopes to bring a big attraction to the area's new ocean front boardwalk along Ocean Boulevard.

Pacific Development, based in Clayton, MO, near St. Louis, says it is trying to get approval from the City of Myrtle Beach to begin construction on an oceanfront Ferris wheel.

The proposed attraction would have enclosed gondolas, equipped with heating and air conditioning for visitors to take advantage of rides overlooking the beach throughout the year.

Pacific Development aims at having approval from the city within the next month, in hopes of having it set up for the 2011 season.

The proposed site for the Ferris wheel is where the Golden Villa Motel is currently located, near Plyler Park. A company representative will be at the Community Appearance Board meeting on Thursday afternoon.

The company says it would be similar to the one they currently own near Niagara Falls in Canada.
