Brief power outage affects 1,200 in Florence

Florence, SC - FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) - Service has been restored to all but one customer in Florence following a power outage Monday morning.

According to a Progress Energy spokesperson, 1,270 customers in the City of Florence lost power around 10:15 a.m. Officials cite an equipment failure on an overhead line for the reason behind the outage.

The energy company does not believe the brief outage was caused by sweltering temperatures in the Pee Dee. Officials expect to have an adequate energy supply for the soaring demand expected throughout the day on Monday.
