Horry, Georgetown Co. officers crackdown on traffic violations

Conway, SC - CONWAY, SC (WMBF) - A checkpoint at Highway 905 and Inlet Lane slowed drivers in Conway as law enforcement targeted drunk drivers and those breaking other traffic laws.

The effort, which was conducted by the 15th Circuit Law Enforcement Network, is part of a monthly routine. The checkpoints change, but the goal of keeping people safe on the roadways remains the same.

"We want the people to know that the police are out here doing what we can to make the roadways safer so everybody can stay alive on the roadways," said Conway Police Office J. Scott.

Officers stopped cars and asked drivers the present their license, registration and proof of insurance before allowing them to continue on their way. Those caught in the traffic stop face some major consequences.

"If somebody has no license or it's suspended we will arrest them and they get to go to jail for a night," Scott said. "Others who don't have proof of insurance or no registration with them they'll just receive a citation and be sent on their way."
