CONWAY, SC (AP) - Two Horry County men who crashed into a boat and killed a teen while trying to get away from a burglary in their own vessel have each been sentenced to more than two decades in prison.

Nicholas Macklen, 29, of Myrtle Beach, was sentenced to 27 years in prison and Brandon McDevitt, 21, of Surfside Beach, was sentenced to 22 years behind bars. Both were sentenced on Wednesday.

Each man pleaded guilty to several charges including first-degree burglary and leaving the scene of an accident involving a death. The crash killed 13-year-old Shayne Odermatt and injured three others.

Prosecutors say the men stole a television from a home along the Intracoastal Waterway near Socastee last summer and were trying to flee in a boat when the wreck happened.
