Lake City passes final budget

Lake City, SC - LAKE CITY, SC (WMBF) - Lake City has passed a final reading of their budget for the 2010-2011 fiscal year.

There will be no tax increases, but the budget includes some fee increases for water, sewer, and sanitation.

There will be no employee layoffs this fiscal year, but the city will continue with 20 hours of furloughs for employees.

The city says other than buying a few vehicles, capital improvements will be on hold this year.  They say progress in the city is at a halt.

"We're treading water," city Administrator Marion Lowder said.  "Not going backwards, but not moving forward."
