HCPD investigate string of car break-ins

Horry County, SC - HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - Horry County Police are investigating several vehicle robberies throughout the county over the weekend.

According to HCPD spokesman Sgt. Robert Kegler, break-ins were reported in the Arrowhead subdivision in Myrtle Beach, several residences in the Garden City area, as well as the Garden City Pier.

"My daughter lost her computer, GPS, and iPod," Pastor Tom Stegald said.  "All of my daughter's work stuff was on there."

Investigators say there was no forced entry and the suspects were targeting vehicles that were left unlocked.

"There's been a lot of noise and activity with folks down here from high school and college and so I think there's a lot of good natured misbehaving going on," Stegald said. "We believe in mercy and grace and we forgive him or her and hope they're not in a lifestyle that makes them have to do this and ruin people's lives."

Horry County Police are reminding residents and visitors to the area to secure their belongings and the lock their vehicles.

The investigation is ongoing and no suspects have been identified.  Anyone with information is asked to call the Horry County Police Department at (843) 915-8477.
