DARLINGTON, SC (WMBF) - Eight days after two teenagers drowned in a Darlington pool, both young men have been laid to rest. Funeral services for 13-year-old Timquan Malik McAllister were held at Darlington Middle School on Sunday afternoon.

"We can remember Timquan in a very respectable way," said Carlita Davis, Principal of Darlington Middle School. "His reputation will be one that we remember in a good way" Davis said.

McAllister was found at the bottom of the Darlington City Pool on May 31st alongside a second child, identified as Justin McKay, 13. The two were found around 3p.m. when a senior lifeguard decided to evacuate the pool because of inclement weather.

The Darlington County Coroner's Office requested an investigation into the incident from the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division and the Darlington County Sheriff's Office, as a matter of standard procedure.

McAllister's family members told WMBF News that there are a lot of unanswered questions surrounding the drowning.

"We really don't know what happened but I pray and give strength to God that everything will be ok" said Phyllis Joseph, McAllister's cousin.

Over three hundred people packed Darlington Middle School to pay their final respects. The service included songs and memorials to the teen.

The investigation into the drowning remains ongoing, the coroner's inquest is set for June 17th in Darlington.
