Myrtle Beach, SC - MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - A 30-year-old woman from Tennessee was found passed out in a hot vehicle along South Ocean Boulevard with a child in the backseat.
Myrtle Beach Police were called to the Sandy Beach Resort, located at 201 S. Ocean Blvd., early Saturday morning in reference to an unresponsive woman. Upon arrival, officers found a woman passed out in a Nissan Sentra with a child sleeping in the backseat.
Officers said after numerous attempts to wake the woman up, it was deemed by EMS personnel she was highly intoxicated. When the woman was woken up, police report she became combative and started screaming.
The racket woke up an 8-year-old child in the backseat, who began crying before telling police her mother has been "scaring her lately." She child also stated to police the two were leaving because of an argument with a 62-year-old man.
During the course of the incident, the 62-year-old appeared at the car with a luggage cart, in an apparent attempt to load up the car. When questioned by police, he said he left the mother and child in the car for about 20 minutes with the windows up.
The mother was transported to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center. Police gave temporary custody of the child to the 62-year-old man.
