(NBC) - Missing is a 10 inch pet who eats grass and flowers, looks like a rock and is blonde colored.
Its name is Reilly, but he's a Sulcata tortoise, so he won't answer if you call him by name.
Sounds odd, but it's true.
The Veninga family of Dallas, TX, lost their pet when someone left the front gate open and it wandered out of their fenced yard.
"We looked everywhere in the front yard, and even our next door neighbors came out and helped us," said Debi Veninga. "Can't really go around calling out his name and putting out food or anything."
Reilly the tortoise belonged to Emily, 10, who wrote in the missing tortoise in her prayer book, "Please, please, please bring Reilly back to us."
The tortoise has been missing for two weeks, but the family is still thinking positive.
"He likes the grass, and there's pretty nice lawns around here, so he might be eating his way across Texas. I don't know," Debi said. "There's always hope. As long as he's not squished along the road somewhere, there's hope."
