Golf courses play host to National Retired Military Golf Classic

Myrtle Beach, SC - MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Myrtle Beach National is playing host this week to the 27th annual National Retired Military Golf Classic, a captain's choice tournament.

Event organizers say military personnel will gather June 2-5 at five Myrtle Beach championship golf courses, including all three courses at Myrtle Beach National, the Long Bay Club and Aberdeen Country Club.

The tournament consists of 72 holes for male participants, while women will compete on a 54-hole layout. Registration runs $280 for men and $235 for women. The cost includes golf, cart fees, awards, special drawings, a golf shirt, hats and a meal certificate.

Team and individual prizes will be awarded with golf vacations, gift certificates and cash as the prizes.  A closest-to-the-pin contest will be held each day and golfers can win a car with a hole-in-one.

More than $60,000 in cash and prizes will be awarded during the tournament.
