DARLINGTON, SC (WMBF) - A second teenager who was found at the bottom of the Darlington City Pool on Saturday has been declared dead, according to the Darlington County Coroner's Office.
The teen, identified as Timquan McAllister, 13, of Darlington, was declared brain dead on Tuesday. Darlington County Coroner Todd Hardee said he was being kept on life support as doctors prepared to donate the child's organs.
Hardee said McCallister was declared dead Wednesday morning at an area hospital.
An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday and a coroner's inquest is forthcoming.
McAllister was found at the bottom of the Darlington City Pool Saturday afternoon alongside a second child, identified as Justin McKay, 13. The two were found around 3 p.m. when a senior lifeguard decided to evacuate the pool because of inclement weather.
Hardee said lifeguards began rescue attempts and the two swimmers were transported to an area hospital. McKay's death was confirmed by the Darlington County Corner shortly after his arrival to a Florence hospital.
McKay's mother said her son did not know how to swim, but was under general lifeguard supervision.
The Darlington County Coroner's Office requested an investigation into the incident from the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division and the Darlington County Sheriff's Office, as a matter of standard procedure.
The results of the investigation have not been released.
