Consider This - Hurricane season

We officially begin hurricane season this week, and although forecasters are calling for an active season, we can continue to hope and pray that the number of storms and their strength will be minimal.

At WMBF News, one of our top priorities is to make sure we provide you with the information that will help to keep you and your family safe. You can count on the WMBF Storm Team to keep a constant watch on the tropics year around.

However, even though our team of experienced meteorologists will provide you with as much notice as possible when severe weather is approaching, you should Consider This: Having an evacuation plan in place for family is one of the most important things you can do to ensure your safety.

When will you leave and where will you go? Which roads will you use? What is your back-up plan if those roads are closed? Do you have the necessary supplies on-hand? How much time will it take to secure your belongings and your home?

These are questions that should be answered now and not when a storm is approaching. And remember, it usually takes longer than you expect, so make sure your timeline is realistic.

Hopefully the forecast for an active hurricane season will not live up to the expectations, but if it does, you can count on the WMBF Storm Team to give you the most up to date, relevant weather details to keep.

We'll count on you to have your plan in place if that severe weather threatens our area.
