Andrews, SC - ANDREWS, SC (WMBF) - A total of seven people have been displaced over the Memorial Day weekend by separate house fires, according to officials with the American Red Cross.
A single-family home on Magnolia Street in Andrews was destroyed on Saturday, in addition to a Sunday fire on Emanuel Street in Georgetown that destroyed a mobile home.
A third fire on Simpson Creek Road in Loris also left two adults and two children homeless after their mobile home was destroyed.
Since July 1, American Red Cross officials say the local chapter has helped 498 people who have become victims of home fires. The chapter has provided more than $76,000 in financial assistance to those individuals, 186 of whom have been children.
The Red Cross provides for the immediate emergency needs of disaster victims, which includes lodging, meals and clothing.
