Carolina Forest, SC (WMBF) – Coastal Carolina baseball earned the #4 national seed for the upcoming NCAA Baseball Tournament.  The Chanticleers will host the Myrtle Beach Regional at BB&T Coastal Field starting Friday.

Joining Coastal Carolina, the top seed in the regional, will be second seed College of Charleston, third seed NC State and fourth seed Stony Brook.  CCU will face Stony Brook Friday at 1pm.  The Cougars will take on NC State at 7pm.

College of Charleston has beaten Coastal Carolina the last 5 times the teams have met.  At least one member of the Chants knew the road to Omaha would go through the Cougars.

"I remember after the College of Charleston loss a couple weeks ago, Gilly [head coach Gary Gilmore] said in the huddle we're going to have to go through them," said CCU first baseman Adam Rice.

The most recent loss to the College of Charleston, coming just 13 days ago, was an emotional game.  Still, that won't weigh on Coastal's mind come Friday.

"Every team, regardless of how good you're playing, you need a little turmoil to keep the ship running straight," said Gimore.  "Losing to those guys didn't hurt anything at all."

Coastal, overall, is just excited.  Getting the national seed and getting to play close to home are exactly the perks the Chants have been working for all year.

"The stadium will hopefully be packed, get a bunch of fans wearing teal and black," said CCU pitcher Cody Wheeler. "I think we'll have plenty of home field advantage."
