Myrtle Beach man takes over as chair of SCDOT Commission

Columbia, SC - COLUMBIA, SC (WMBF) - A Myrtle Beach businessman is now presiding over the South Carolina Department of Transportation Commission.

Daniel H. Isaac Jr., who owns A&I Fire and Water Restoration, served the commission as vice chairman and represents the 1st Congressional District, which includes all or part of Berkeley, Charleston, Dorchester, Georgetown and Horry counties. He officially took over as chairman of the SCDOT Commission at its monthly meeting May 20. Isaac succeeded Marvin Stevenson, who resigned from the post.

As chairman, Isaac's duties will include setting the agenda for all meetings, appointing committees, approving travel and handling the role of chairman at meetings.  The chairman is also charged with building a consensus on matters to set policy and procedure.

Isaac, of Myrtle Beach, has served on the commission since March 2008. The 1974 Citadel grad serves on the boards of a number of professional and non-profit organizations.
