Police investigate shooting in Florence

Florence, SC - FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) - The Florence Police Department has reopened two streets temporarily shut down in Florence Thursday afternoon due to a shooting investigation.

The Florence Police Department has shut down two streets in Florence Thursday afternoon as officers investigate a possible shooting.

While details remain limited, officials on scene say a victim was assaulted off of Darlington Street, resulting in the theft of his moped, according to Florence Police Maj. Carlos Raines.

Police believe the victim was later shot at while inside of a car near the corner of McQueen Street and West Marion Street. Raines said the car was hit by bullets, however, no one inside was injured.

Investigators believe the person or people involved in the shooting were also involved in the assault.

Emergency crews transported the victim to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Investigation is ongoing at this time.
