Florence, SC - Florence-Darlington Technical College will offer two security courses in June for places of worship and for those in the security profession.

The course for places of worship covers basics of protection for people and assets.  It also covers more in-depth topics such as protecting youth, adults and the elderly, policies, physical security, life safety, and crisis management.

The course is scheduled for June 8 from 9 a.m. until noon or June 10 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Southeastern Institute of Manufacturing and Technology.  The cost is $25 and will be held in rooms 235 and 236.

FDTC will also offer "Law and Liabilities for Private Security" for private sector security personnel and those interested in learning about security methods, strategies, and legal guidelines.  Suggestions for protection against robberies, internal theft and shoplifting will be covered.

Plaintiff and defense strategies in premise security claims, and related alleged negligence, will be discussed, as well as best practices in forensic methodology.  The course is scheduled for June 15 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the SiMT in room S255.  The cost is $70 and includes lunch.
