Myrtle Beach, SC - MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – Volunteers are needed in preparing 130 homes to be shipped to Haiti.
The local Shelter Haiti humanitarian effort raised more than $65,000 to construct homes for Haitian residents.
"While the peril of the Haitian people has fallen from the headlines, their desperate situation remains," said Ed Jackson, the local businessman leading the Shelter Haiti effort in Horry County. "Right now, we need volunteers to help us construct the remaining components for the homes."
The construction is taking place in a Myrtle Beach warehouse and the homes will ship out on a cargo ship from the Port of Georgetown on June 5.
