Clyburn recognized with 'Good Scout' award Tuesday

WASHINGTON (WMBF) - House Majority Whip James Clyburn (D-SC) has been awarded Tuesday with the 'Good Scout' award by the Boy Scouts of America during an annual luncheon, a spokesman said.

The award is given annually to leaders who exemplify the Scout Oath and law in their daily lives.

"Receiving the 'Good Scout' award is a great honor and I am delighted to be recognized by the National capital Area Council [and] Boy Scouts of America," Clyburn commented. "I firmly believe that the values taught in scouting are important to the development of America's youth, and I am continuously mindful of incorporating them into my life."

Luncheon proceeds will benefit Scouting programs for youth in the District of Columbia, including the campership program that helps Cub Scouts attend NCAC's Camp William B. Snyder in Haymarket, VA.
