Bennettsville, SC - BENNETTSVILLE, SC (WMBF) - A fifth suspect has been arrested Friday in connection to a deadly armed robbery and shooting at a Bennettsville convenience store on May 10.
Officers with the Bennettsville Police Department were dispatched to the Quik Stop at 157 Marshall St. around 11:30 a.m. after receiving reports of an armed robbery and possible shooting. Upon arrival, police discovered the store's clerk, identified as Samer Hussein, 44, had been shot.
Investigator Ira Dease with the Bennettsville Police Department announced a fifth suspect, Robert Hammonds, had been arrested Friday in connection to the deadly shooting. Police allege Hammonds spoke with the suspects prior to the robbery and witnessed the group leave the store with a weapon.
Hammonds has been charged with misprision of a felony and joins four others police believe are connected to the case:
- Kadeem Ocean, 20, of Bennettsville
- Marcus Townsend, 17, of Bennettsville
- Rashad Baskins, 18, of Bennettsville
- An unidentified 15-year-old juvenile
The four additional suspects face charges of murder, armed robbery and unlawful possession of a firearm during a violent crime. Ocean, Townsend and Baskins are being held at the Marlboro County Detention Center. The juvenile was been transferred to the Department of Juvenile Justice.
Hammonds is currently being held at the Marlboro County Detention Center.
