Murrells Inlet, SC - HUNTINGTON BEACH STATE PARK, SC (WMBF) – A group of volunteers hosted an event to help educate people about nature and staying healthy at Hunting Beach State Park.
The Friends of Huntington Beach organized the event and it was held throughout the day on Saturday. Various stations were set up throughout the state park to help people learn new ways to maintain a healthy lifestyle and enjoy the outdoors at the same time.
Included among those was a high tech station that taught computer savvy people about geo-caching, a GPS –based worldwide scavenger hunt.
"It's a hobby I've gotten in to recently. It's super, super fun," said Sean Torrens, who was instructing the program on geo-caching. "It's a great way to get outside, get some exercise, see areas you've never seen before and might not even know exist, even in your home town."
Torrens said that even though he has lived in the area for 20 years, he still discovers new places in Myrtle Beach.
