Blue Star Mothers honor members of the Armed Forces

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – A group in the Grand Strand honored the Armed Forces in a special way on Saturday.

The Blue Star Mothers, a group of about 30 moms of active duty military, gathered at the Veterans Café and Grill behind the Market Common. While there, they placed pictures of their sons and daughters on one of the walls of the restaurant.

The group meets for support and also participates in community service projects in the area.

"Well, it gives me chill bumps just thinking about it, but they're all our heroes, every one of them," said one proud Blue Star Mother, Rita Parks. "We're a support system for each other and we just like to show them off because we are so proud of them."

The group is looking forward to the Memorial Day Festivities and Parade next weekend. The Blue Star Mothers plan to have a float in the parade.
